Hosted by by Department of Geography, School of Natural Sciences, Trinity College Dublin and delivered by Dr Miriam Williams, Macquarie University, Australia “Growing more just and caring food futures: documenting community food initiatives across Sydney”. How we go about justly supplying affordable, sustainable and ethical food in the context of climate change and growing inequality, is a significant matter of concern for researchers. In Sydney, Australia, community food initiatives play a key role in addressing diverse forms of injustice. In this paper I reflect on the challenges faced by these initiatives and explore how they are contributing to care-full food justice. To do so, I draw on research that documents the contribution of these initiatives to the broader urban food system and asks how we might further grow more care-full and just food futures in the city.
