Your Local Food Network (also referred to as YLFN) is committed to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance and is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected.

Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using our services and website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

Our privacy statement sets out our actions to comply with this new regulation, our continued commitment in respecting your privacy and to protecting your personal data.

This privacy policy sets out how Your Local Food Network uses and protects any personal data that you share with us and that we hold about you, including how we collect, process, protect and share that data.

Data We Collect

YLFN collects personally identifiable information that you provide by filling in forms on our YLFN site. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our site, subscribing to our services, subscribing to the newsletter, posting material or requesting further services. We may also ask you for information when you enter a competition or promotion and when you report a problem with our site. If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence. We may record details of transactions you carry out through our site and of the fulfilment of your orders.

YLFN may also collect anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you. There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by YLFN. This information can include: your IP address, browser type, access times and referring website addresses.

This information is used by YLFN for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the YLFN website. YLFN is not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on websites linked from the YLFN website. YLFN does not sell, rent or lease its mailing list or membership lists to third parties. YLFN will not pass your details on to any third parties. We will use your information only to provide you with updates on Your Local Food Network’s work. You are free to unsubscribe from these email updates and anytime by clicking on the appropriate button in any emails we send you.

Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. The Newsletter

If you have signed up to our newsletter we will send this to by email. Each email containing the newsletter will contain details of how you can unsubscribe from receiving more of these emails.

Please note that if you indicate to us that you prefer not to receive the newsletter, and then opt in to receive it at a later date (or vice versa), we will take the latest indication as the confirmation as to whether you want to receive the newsletter from us.

When you subscribe to our newsletter we collect your name (only when provided) and your email address so that we can correspond with you. Your personal data will not only be stored in the website’s database but also in Mailchimp, the application we use to send our newsletters. MailChimp is the world’s largest marketing automation platform and is GDPR compliant. They have a campaign builder that makes it easy to create email templates.

In Mailchimp we only store your email address and when provide it, your name.


We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to track visitors on this site.

Google Analytics uses cookies to collect this data.

In order to be compliant with the new regulation Google included a data processing amendment.

The data we collect will be processed anonymously and “Data sharing” is disabled.


Member Privacy Policy

In addition to our General Privacy Policy the following are applicable to Simple Food Pledge members and supporters

Why we need your data

We need to know your personal data to promote you and your business on our online directory and to offer marketing support. We will not collect any personal data from you which we do not need to provide and/or oversee our services to you.

Some of these details will form part of your listing on the YLFN website. This is made obvious on the application form. We will always contact you, by means of an email, with your details that are to be made public on our website before publishing them. If we do not hear otherwise we assume your compliance.

We also hold information in our accounts system necessary to process your account. We currently use Stripe as our payment processor. Stripe is an online payment processor for internet businesses and is fully GDPR compliant. We have no direct access to your financial details.

What personal data we collect

We may collect the following information:

– Name and business name, contact information, email address, Web address, social media links, demographic – information including post code, details of your business services or products, including images, and any other information, relevant to your smallholding that qualify you to use the SIMPLE FOOD PLEDGE.

– We may also hold information in our accounts systems, required on a legal basis, to comply with current Irish Tax Legislation.

We ask you to volunteer personal feedback on day to day issues in your business so that we can try to find solutions to collective problems around local food production. We may also ask you to call-out areas of training that may be useful for development of local food production and marketing. This is solely for for the purpose of providing services to you and will be treated confidentially.

What we do with the information we gather

The personal data we collect is processed by our staff and will be processed for the purpose of providing services to you and will be retained securely. We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:

– to list your business details on our online directory – you will be asked to confirm these details before publication

– internal record keeping.

– to improve our services

– to communicate with you on an administrative basis. ie email, telephone or letter.

How long we keep your data for

Personal information essential to processing financial accounts for tax purposes will be retained for 7 years, after any transactions have been completed.

Accuracy of Information supplied

In order to provide the highest level of service possible, we need to obtain accurate personal data about you. It is your responsibility to ensure you are eligible to be included as a member and give honest information. We carefully consider any challenges to the accuracy of the information. It is necessary to review your information on an annual basis and update accordingly to ensure accuracy. We do not carry out inspections. We trust that all the member

information featured on YLFN has been included in good faith by members on the basis that they are eligible to be included and have given honest information. We are not responsible, liable or otherwise at fault if a member is found to have led us to believe they are eligible when they are in fact not. If this is found to be the case, we will remove them from the site.
